A standout moment in our career development program was the webinar on building a career in economic geology. This event offered invaluable guidance on how to enter and succeed in a specialized and fast-growing area of geoscience. Featuring two inspiring guest speakers, Mr. Silvanus Shafiishuna, a rising star early-career economic geologist, and Mrs. Mary Barton, Principal Economic Geologist at Odikiwa Geoservices the webinar went beyond theory. They shared real-life experiences, practical tips, and career strategies that resonated deeply with attendees.
Hosted in collaboration with the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits, the session covered everything from navigating the job market to ongoing professional development and the importance of mentorship. Attendees left with a clearer vision of their career path and actionable steps to move forward confidently.
Through these initiatives, YES Network Namibia is not only building skills but also fostering a supportive community where young scientists feel empowered to pursue their ambitions. We continue to expand our career programs, always listening to the needs of our members and tailoring opportunities to help them succeed.
Our members have represented Namibia at major international conferences like the YES Network Congress (Berlin, Tanzania) and the International Geoscience Conference in Cape Town sharing local research on global stages, building networks, and gaining visibility.

YES Network Namibia has facilitated teacher involvement in the prestigious Geoscience Information for Teachers (GIFT) workshops in Austria and South Africa.
